WISC represents a network of more than 20 national or regional international studies associations in International Studies worldwide that seeks to promote scholarly cooperation and exchange at the international level and reach out to, especially, those countries, regions and communities, which are still underrepresented in global international studies. The British International Studies Association (BISA) is a learned society which develops and promotes the study of International Studies, Politics and related subjects through teaching, research and the facilitation of contact between scholars. Founded in 1975, BISA is the leading organisation for researchers, policy makers, practitioners and students of International Studies in the United Kingdom. The association has over 1300 members, while most members are based in the UK there are also members throughout Europe, North & South America, Africa, Asia and Austrialia, new members are always welcome. The Association’s journal, magazine and book series, along with our conference and events position us as a key hub in shaping and disseminating current research in International Studies and Politics. Through our Working Groups, BISA provides a dynamic and pro-active environment for more focused research in to subfields of International Studies.
Representing 100 countries, ISA has over 6,500 members worldwide and is the most respected and widely known scholarly association in this field. Endeavoring to create communities of scholars dedicated to international studies, ISA is divided into 6 geographic subdivisions of ISA (Regions), 29 thematic groups (Sections) and 4 Caucuses which provide opportunities to exchange ideas and research with local colleagues and within specific subject areas.
The Finnish International Studies Association (FISA) aims at promoting multidisciplinary research, maintaining a network of active people, and providing a link between academics and practitioners within the field of international studies. It is a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. FISA has been active since 1993.
A new individual membership based association, serving the International Relations community in Europe and beyond. EISA has been created by the Standing Group on International Relations. Activities will include a broad range of events, ranging from large scale annual Pan-European Conferences to the European Workshops in International Studies (EWIS), Exploratory Symposia (ES) and Early Career Researchers Workshops (ECW), the latter organized back-to-back of the Pan-European conferences.
